Long-Term Care Insurance

CHPW offers voluntary Long-Term Care insurance through Trustmark Life Events. This combined Life and Long-Term Care Insurance helps cover the cost of care due to chronic illness, disability, cognitive decline, or aging. It also pays a death benefit to your dependents.

Highlights of the plan include:

  • Coverage for care in your home, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, hospice and respite facilities and adult day care.
  • Benefits paid when help is needed with 2 of 6 daily activities (bathing, eating, walking, toileting, transferring and dressing) or for cognitive impairment.
  • Provides income similar to life insurance should the insured pass away before the elected amount is paid out.
  • Coverage is available for you and your spouse or partner.
  • Provides up to $125,000 in guaranteed coverage if enrolled within 31 days of eligibility.
  • You can enroll your spouse without enrolling yourself.

WA Cares Fund

Washington State established the WA Cares Fund to help all employees have access to long-term care when they need it.

Every working employee contributes premiums in the amount of 0.58% of their earnings. These funds are automatically deducted from your paycheck beginning July 2023. Long-term care benefits will become available beginning July 2026.

To be eligible to receive benefits, you must meet certain criteria. For more information and the list of criteria, visit the WA Cares Fund website.
